The five most exciting new non-alcoholic releases to try this month

I’m probably not the only one slightly stunned we’re within acceptable range of discussing Christmas plans and coupled with Black Friday just around the corner, we’re firmly into seasonal offers territory - the perfect time for some shopping inspo! We’ve rounded up the most exciting recent releases to try this month, so whether it’s spirit alternatives, aperitifs or functional drinks you’d like to explore, there’s definitely something for everyone!

Ruby aperitif - Wavelength

Looking for the perfect aperol stand-in? Following a striking rebrand, Wavelength (formerly High Point) looks set to dominate the growing non-alcoholic aperitif category. The Cornish brand lean into fermentation to help them create bold flavours with depth and complexity, and their Ruby aperitif is a punchy blend of bittersweet citrus and spice. Designed with a classic aperitif based spritz in mind, Ruby is best enjoyed with tonic water, but also works brilliantly in bitter cocktails.

Malt Abbey - Kahol

They haven’t even officially launched yet, but Kahol’s unique brewing process has already put them firmly on the map. Starting with full strength spirits before gently removing the alcohol, the flavours are rebalanced with a blend of botanicals before a period of barrel aging completes what is undoubtedly one of the most exciting new additions to the non-alcoholic spirits category. Malt Abbey, Kahol’s 0% whiskey alternative is smoky with notes of vanilla, honey and tobacco, and although show-stopping in cocktails, is even better sipped neat. The impossible search for a convincing non-alcoholic whiskey seems to be over, finally.

DRIFT - Carouse

When founder Steph was left disappointed on her search for functional non-alcoholic drinks she decided to develop the answer herself. On a mission to create drinks which both taste, and make you feel great, Carouse blends nootropic and adaptogenic ingredients with refreshing flavour combinations. The drinks are packed with natural extracts and designed to enhance your mood - Drift promises to help you relax with its blend of summer fruits, cucumber, ashwaganda and basil, and is best enjoyed with a touch of soda water.

Café - Soldadera

Launching recently as the UK’s first dedicated non-alcoholic tequila brand, Soldadera, of the Mindful Brands family (also behind Celtic Soul and Marie Laveau) has created two distilled non-alcoholic spirits made from agave and “carefully selected botanicals” – Blanco, and Café. We’re particularly excited about Café, which is the first coffee infused non-alcoholic tequila alternative on the market. Promising “rich notes of bitter sweet chocolate”, it sounds like what all espresso martini enthusiasts have been waiting (far too long) for.

Batch 14 - Botivo

Inspired by oxymels, an ancient tonic made by infusing apple cider vinegar with herbs and honey, Botivo balances bold flavours and entertaining acidity to create the perfect aperitif alternative. Fans of shrubs or switchels will find the sweet-but-sharp format wonderfully familiar; and those searching for an aperol or campari alternative will be delighted to find the same bittersweet influence of gentian. Botivo also incorporates wormwood which gives absinthe it’s distinctive flavour, into their intriguing mix of botanicals. As much a love letter to established practices as it is a unique blend in its own right, Botivo have created a thought provoking concoction, best enjoyed with a simple splash of soda.
