Understanding Alcohol Use and Trauma [Replay]
Understanding Alcohol Use and Trauma [Replay]
A virtual workshop with ICF accredited Somatic Trauma Informed Coach Angela Thompson about why we use drinking as a way of coping with unprocessed past trauma.
In this workshop, Angela will cover the following key topics:
-Her own personal experience of problematic drinking for over 30 years due to past trauma and a lack of self-worth which led to her engaging in destructive behaviours and why her sobriety is now so important to her.
-The nervous system
-Healing your inner child
-IFS and why this is so important when it comes to messages that we tell ourselves about ourselves when we are growing up.

"Just now found the time to sit down and rewatch. I've
loved every second of this session. In my addiction recovery it's
become more and more important to me to understand the reasons
of my alcohol abuse, get a better understanding of trauma and also
working on healing the parts of me that were hurt over all these
years. For me, this session combined all that and it really helped me
understand myself better. What has stuck with me the most is the
following: Trauma is not what happened TO you, it's what happened
INSIDE of you, BECAUSE of what happened to you."
This is a replay of our workshop. If you’d like to join the next session live and interact with us in real time, please head to the Events section for details on upcoming dates and registration.
